The victim, a 72-year-old man from the Durham area, sustained a broken elbow and a swollen knee when he was hit by a maroon-coloured van, possibly a Ford Transit, on Coppergate at the junction with Parliament Street at around 10am on Saturday 12 July 2014.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene for a few minutes before driving off without leaving his details.

Officers are appealing to the driver of the van or anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them with information.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for PC Gareth Vaughan or York police.
