Update: Two Women Knocked Over On Lendal Bridge

The incident happened at 9.40pm on Saturday 14 June 2014.
The two women, who are aged 31 and 33 and from the Scarborough area, sustained minor injuries in the collision. They were discharged form hospital after treatment.
Police are appealing for anyone with any information about the incident to contact them.
Traffic Constable Mark Patterson of Tadcaster Roads Policing Group, said:
“I am appealing for anyone who saw a grey Vauxhall Corsa prior to the collision and to anyone who witnessed the actual incident, to contact the police."
“Thankfully, the victims’ injuries were not as serious as first thought. However, we still need witnesses to come forward and tell us what they saw.”

The driver of the Corsa, a 27-year-old man from York, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of a number of offences including taking a car without the owner’s consent, driving while unfit through drugs and driving without insurance or a licence. He has been released on police bail while the investigation continues.
Lendal Bridge was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and reopened at 11.15pm.
