6:10am 16th June 2014

To allow the works to be carried out safely a 24-hour road closure will be in place from 9am on Monday 16 June until approx 6pm on Friday 20 June.

Whilst the road is closed engineers will also carry out maintenance to the lighting in the tunnel and the walkway will also be given a deep clean.

As with any construction work, there is likely to be a certain amount of disruption and inconvenience but everything reasonably possible will be done to keep this to a minimum.

Neil Ferris, assistant director of City and Environmental Services, said:

“The road surface on this section of Leeman Road, under the Marble Arch Bridge, is heavily cracked and damaged and in need of urgent repair and posses a risk to the travelling public. All residents and businesses in the vicinity have been notified of the works in advance, and we will carry these out as quickly as possible and do everything to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.”

Whilst the works are being carried out there will be several alterations to the First York bus service in the area, including:
