Appeal After Car Damaged By Object Thrown From Bridge in York

(Updated 9:55am 3rd June 2014)
The incident occurred around 8.25pm on Friday 30 May 2014, as a silver Ford Fiesta passed under Naburn Bridge, York Road, when a brick or stone was dropped from the bridge. As a result, the mounting and mirror of the driver’s side wing mirror was shattered.
PC Peter Taylforth, investigating the incident, said: “Thankfully the woman driving the car was not injured as a result of this utterly reckless act of mindless stupidity. However she was naturally left very shaken by the experience.
“The person responsible demonstrated a complete disregard safety of the car’s occupants. Had the stone hit the windscreen the consequences could have been far more serious.”
PC Taylforth added: “As Naburn Bridge is popular with walkers and cyclists I am sure someone may have noticed people acting in a suspicious manner, and urge them to get in touch straight away as they may have vital information which could help my enquiries.”
Anyone who can assist with this investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 select option 2 and ask for Peter Taylforth. Alternatively, information can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
