Six Vehicle Crash on A64 Near Tadcaster Causes Jams

Traffic Jam

7:47pm 23rd May 2014

A six vehicle crash on the A64 near Tadcaster has caused delays to the Bank Holiday getaway in North Yorkshire.

Police were called out at 6.25pm to the A64 eastbound at the junction with the A659. Traffic had to be diverted through Tadcaster while emergency services were called out. One lane is now re-open but the second lane is closed to allow the vehicles to be moved off the road and clear up the wreckage. Police do not know when the road will fully re-open.

North Yorkshire Police say they are not aware of any injuries after the collision.

It comes after an earlier collision this evening at Bilbrough Top on the A64 eastbound which took place at 5.25pm. The crash involved three cars and a lorry, with one of the car passengers suffering from slight injuries.

One lane was closed for about an hour before the road fully re-opened.
