2:47pm 23rd May 2014
Author and former SAS operative Andy McNab visited St Peter’s School in Clifton this week to talk to a crowd of York residents about his careers: both in the army and behind the writing desk.
He spoke about his time in the army, serving in Northern Ireland and Iraq, and his experiences of operating behind enemy lines..
McNab is the author of Bravo Two Zero, and a series of other titles based upon his time in the Special Forces. These autobiographical works have been released to great acclaim and led to a career in writing fiction. Bravo Two Zero in particular was televised, with Sean Bean in the starring role.
More recently, McNab has become a best-selling writer of fiction with action thriller titles such as the Nick Stone Missions and the Boy Soldier Series, as well as books for young adults such as the New Recruit.
McNab was speaking in the Memorial Hall at St Peter’s School. As part of the school’s Public Lecture series the event was free to attend and open to all. He followed the talk with a book signing and a bookshop run by Waterstones.
