Search Continues for Wanted York Man
3:29pm 6th May 2014
Detectives in York are renewing their appeal to trace a man wanted for recall to prison in the city.
Thomas Metcalf, 25, has failed to comply with the terms of his release licence since leaving prison on Wednesday 23 April 2014.
He was sentenced to 12-months imprisonment in July 2013, for attempted burglary.
Metcalf is described as white, 6ft tall with a medium build and brown hair.
Although his whereabouts are not known it is believed that Metcalf is in the York area.
Detective Inspector Dave Kirby, of York CID, said: “Thomas, I believe that you know officers are looking for you. You need to understand that we will not stop our enquiries to locate you until you are back in custody. By avoiding the police you are only making the inevitable result all the worse for yourself. I strongly advise you to hand yourself in immediately.
“Officers have already visited a number of addresses in York where it is believed Metcalf has links. These visits will continue until he is located. If you are shielding Metcalf and think you are helping him, you are wrong. You are only making matters worse. In fact, you may be even committing offences yourself, which could lead to your arrest and prosecution.”
DI Kirby added: “If you see Thomas Metcalf, I urge you to contact the police straight away so that he can be returned to custody.”
Anyone who can help to locate Metcalfe should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
Or, if you would prefer to remain anonymous, ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
