5:42am 9th February 2010
An extra 56,000 homes and businesses in Yorkshire are to receive free flood warnings from the Environment Agency.
The watchdog has flagged up those at a high to medium risk of river or sea flooding to be automatically signed-up.
At the moment less than 23,000 use the service.
Letters will be sent out next week to to those who've been selected.
The extension of the scheme was one of the key recommendations of the 'Pitt Review' following the flooding in 2007.
