People in Pocklington, Market Weighton and Stamford Bridge Could Save On Their Energy Bills
7:13am 1st April 2014
People in Pocklington, Market Weighton and Stamford Bridge could save on their energy bills through YORSwitch, Cheaper Energy Together as registration is open from 1 April to 10 June.
The collective switching scheme has already saved East Riding residents a total of £175,000 and average savings are increasing, as collective switching becomes more popular with both consumers and suppliers.
Councillor Symon Fraser, cabinet portfolio holder for environment, housing and planning at East Riding of Yorkshire Council said:
"Some East Riding residents may still be paying too much for their energy and some have not switched energy suppliers for at least three years."
The scheme works by gathering together people who are interested in finding out if they can save money on their energy bills. YORSwitch organises an auction for energy suppliers and the supplier providing the cheapest tariff will send an offer to all registrants. The offer is obligation-free and people do not have to switch. However, for those who do switch, YORSwitch takes care of the whole process and ensures that residents will not be without energy during the switch.
Interested residents can ergister for free and find out more information at www.eastriding.gov.uk/yorswitch, or call 01482 393939.
