York Woman Given 12 Month Suspended Sentence

A woman from Acomb has appeared in court this morning facing charges on benefit fraud.

54 year old Karen Fligg didn't tell authorities she was living with her husband, who was working while she claimed benefits

She was handed a 12 month suspended sentence, a 12 month supervision order and 10 days of activity.

York Councillor Tracey Simpson-Laing, Cabinet Member for Health, Housing and Adult Social Services has urged people to report cases of benefit fraud if they think they know somebody who may be committing the offence.
