The forthcoming Liberal Democrat Conference is a significant event for the City of York and North Yorkshire Police will be on hand to ensure that it runs as safely and securely as possible.
The conference will take place at the Barbican Centre between Friday 7 March and Sunday 9 March 2014.
North Yorkshire Police and its partners welcome such events to York.
There will be some road closures throughout the weekend and officers and the local authority will be working hard to ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum.
A Trade Union Congress demonstration is planned for Saturday 8 March, which North Yorkshire Police will manage and ensure that any impact to local businesses and the general public is kept to a minimum.
Superintendent Phil Cain, York Safer Neighbourhood Commander, said: “The Liberal Democrat Conference is a large scale event which North Yorkshire Police and it’s partners have planned for.
“We are committed to ensuring a safe and secure conference for all involved and minimising the disruption to the general public in York over the weekend.”
