York City Manager and Defender Nominated For Awards
7:42am 4th March 2014
York City manager Nigel Worthington and defender Keith Lowe have been nominated for Sky Bet's monthly awards.
Nigel Worthington is up for Manager of the Month against Dave Flitcroft at Bury, John Sheridan at Plymouth Argyle and Chris Wilder at Northampton Town.
The reasons for the Minstermen's boss has been nomination are:
Masterminded superb away victories at promotion-chasing Fleetwood Town and Plymouth Argyle. An unbeaten month saw his emerging side pick up eight points and concede just one goal to move into the top half.
But York City central defender Keith Lowe has also been put in for the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month award with the reasons for his nomination as:
A defensive rock at centre back since coming in on loan from Cheltenham Town. He displayed his strength in the air and shrewd reading of the game as York went unbeaten in February, conceding just a single goal in four matches.
The pair will be judged by Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League head of communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet head of football Paul Wiggins.
The result will be announced on Friday 7th March.
