Man Arrested After Suspected Serious Sex Assault in York

Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault in York have made an arrest.
The incident occurred on the steps near Skeldergate Bridge just after 1.30am on Monday 3 March 2014, when a local woman in her early twenties was subjected to a serious sexual assault by an unknown man who she had walked with for a short distance.
The 23-year-old York man was arrested in the Boroughbridge Road area of the city, at 12.50pm yesterday.
He is currently in police custody.
The victim is continuing to receive support from specially trained police officers as enquiries continue.
