Selby Police Investigate Eggborough Jewellery Theft
8:31am 19th February 2014
Detectives in Selby are appealing for information about a burglary and high value theft of jewellery near the town.
It occurred between Thursday 30 January and Thursday 13 February 2014, at a house on Ryecroft Gardens, Eggborough.
The burglars stole a number of men’s and ladies’ wristwatches. They also stole two pocket watches. One of which has the image of a man pushing a plough. The second pocket watch has a silver case which needs to be opened with a key. The watches have a total value of several thousand pounds. The thieves also took cash in pounds sterling and Turkish lira.
Detective Constable Lee Maeer, of Selby CID, said: “If you noticed any unusual vehicles or people acting suspiciously in the Ryecroft Gardens area during the time when the burglary occurred, you may have vital information which could help my investigation.
“I am also keen to speak to anyone who may have been offered any watches or lira in strange circumstances and ask them to get in touch.”
DC Maeer, added: “If people do have valuable or items of sentimental value, they may want to consider buying a safe in which to store the items rather than keeping them, albeit out of sight, in unlocked drawers and cabinets.”
Anyone who can assist this enquiry should contact Selby CID on 101, select option 2 and ask for Lee Maeer. Alternatively, information can be emailed to email@example.com.
Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 5551111, quoting reference number 12140024104.
