The Lord Mayor of York is holding the annual Charity Ball at York Racecourse this evening, in support of the 2013/14 civic charities.

The event has become the biggest fundraising event in the civic calendar and is set to be a glamourous occasion.

Adding to the event are many of the partners of She Loves York, who are the main sponsors of the Lord Mayor's Ball and partners Forevermore.

The ball is a great opportunity for individuals and businesses to support the Lord Mayor's two charities, IDAS and the Jack Raine Community Foundation - supporting victims of domestic abuse and vulnerable children and young people.

The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Julie Gunnell said: " I am delighted that this year's civic charities are two charities that are close to my heart, and do a great job supporting victims of domestic abuse and vulnerable children in and around the city."

She added: "I would urge anyone who has yet to book tickets to attend an event which has become one of the highlights of the year in support of two great causes."

Tickets are still available and are £50.00 each or a table of 10 for £500. People can book online through event sponsor She Loves York, www.shelovesyork.co.uk/events/lordmayorsball by calling 01904 551011 or emailing civicenquiries@york.gov.uk
