Any Old Iron? 18 Irons, 24 Kettles & 40 Toasters Donated in Market Weighton's Christmas Clear Out

10:46am 4th February 2014

24 kettles, 18 irons, 32 CD players, 23 televisions and 40 toasters were among 600 electrical items donated in a post-Christmas clear out carried out in supermarkets across the East Riding, including in Market Weighton.

Collection points were set up in supermarket car parks as well as the ten rubbish tips in East Yorkshire, including Market Weighton.

Symon Fraser from East Riding of Yorkshire Council said: “What better month than January to make this sort of collection. People had replaced many of these household items at Christmas and were not too sure what to do with the old ones.

“In many cases, these items were in good working order and only needed a new home, which is what they will now get.”
