River Ouse Searches for Missing Megan to Continue
8:31am 31st January 2014
Police divers will re-enter the River Ouse in York this morning as they continue their search for missing York student Megan Roberts.
20 year old Megan is believed to have fallen into the water after a night out drinking with friends. The York St John student has now been missing for more than a week. Police are saying hopes of finding her safe and well are "increasingly remote".
Yesterday, the regional underwater search unit searched the river in the area around Lendal Bridge, where Megan was last seen on CCTV at around 2.20am on Thursday 23 January 2014.
Specialist teams also conducted a land search along the banks on both sides of the river between Naburn and Scarborough Bridge.
Anyone with information about Megan’s disappearance is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 1 – and pass information to the Force Control Room.
