York Acting Group Faces Final Curtain Call Without New Members
7:24am 30th January 2014
York acting group, the Poppleton Players say the curtain will fall the final time on their amateur dramatics group if they can't find new members.
The Players have been performing in York for half a century, performing twice a year in All Saint's Hall in Upper Poppleton.
But the group may have to fold if it can't attract new members according to chairman Nigel Evans .
Most of the group are in their 50s, and they already find it very difficult to cast a play with the current members. They also find it hard to find people to work behind the scenes, to build sets and deal with props .
Nigel Evans said "We are in need of new members to come and help and do a bit of acting and help behind the scenes. We are need people in the age group of 20 to 50 to come along and join us .So if you think you would like to have a go and do a bit of acting or helping behind the scenes and have as much fun as we do when rehearsing and set building."
