Tickets for the afternoon's racing followed by an open-air concert by Wet Wet Wet went on sale today, starting from just £19 per person as part of a group, with accompanied children free of charge.

James Brennan, Head of Marketing and Sponsorship at York Racecourse, said: “Already established as the most popular raceday of its type, we are thrilled to announce that Wet Wet Wet will perform here this year.”

Wet Wet Wet will play on a giant trackside stage after the final race has finished. They are one of the UK’s most successful artists to date and have produced some of the country’s best loved pop songs, including hits such as ‘Sweet Little Mystery’, ‘Wishing I Was Lucky’ and ‘Goodnight Girl’.  The four-piece band have charted three number one singles and sold in excess of 15 million singles and albums to date, since their debut album, ‘Popped In Souled Out’, went to number one in 1987.

Wet Wet Wet’s biggest international hit was ‘Love Is All Around’, which featured on the soundtrack to the film ‘Four Weddings and A Funeral’ and topped the UK charts for a record breaking 15 weeks in 1994. In 2013 the band completed a hugely successful 12-date ‘Greatest Hits’ tour and released the album ‘Step By Step The Greatest Hits’, which features three new tracks as well as songs from Wet Wet Wet’s impressive back catalogue.
