A64 in York To Get Clean Up During Roadworks
3:16pm 17th January 2014
Cleaners from York Council will clean the verge and gutters of a busy stretch of the A64 during roadworks tonight so they don't have disrupt motorists a second time.
The team will take advantage of a closed slow lane and the safer conditions to clean rubbish, silt, detritus and general litter from the verge to help drainage and tidy up, as part of Smarter York.
The lane closure is due to the Highways Agency carrying out a survey which closes the lane from Bondhill to Fulford.
Councillor David Levene, City of York Council’s Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said: “We’re hoping to be able to carry out similar work later in the year when more surveys are planned. It really pays to work smarter like this: it’s better for road users.”
