Malton Town Council Vote Against New Supermarket Plans
7:18am 9th January 2014
Fears of flooding and traffic jams in Malton have been raised if plans for a new supermarket go ahead.
All seven Malton Town Councillors voted last night against plans to build a new supermarket and petrol station on the Wentworth Street car park.
Developers say a new big supermarket could bring more people to Malton, but Winston Kobylka from Woodalls is worried what it could mean to his business.
Vice Chair of Ryedale Council Ann Hopkinson says tougher parking restrictions mean the car park is needed more than ever.
