Man Due in Court Accused of Murder of 87 Year Old Suspected York Burglary Victim

A man's due in front of York magistrates accused of murdering an 87 year old woman who died in a suspected burglary at her home in the Leeman Road area.
The man, aged 33, was arrested yesterday in connection with the incident and has also been charged with attempted robbery and battery.
Officers are appealing to anyone who was in the area of the victim’s home on Victoria Court in the Leeman Road area of York on Wednesday 1 January 2013, to get in touch with the police if they saw anyone acting suspiciously.
A bicycle which is believed to have been used during the incident has still not be traced by the police, and the public are urged to look out for one matching its description.
The 87 year old victim has not yet been named by police.
