Police Investigate Ryedale Cable Theft
6:56am 8th January 2014
Malton police are appealing for information after a theft of cable near the town.
Officers say it was stolen between Sunday 1 December and Monday 2 December 2013, from two buildings in a field on the A169 at Tofts Road, between Malton and Pickering, where a wind turbine is being built.
As well as stealing copper cable valued at £2,000, the burglars also caused approximately £500 worth of damage to the buildings, say police.
PC Paul Fenwick, of Malton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you were in the Tofts Road area around the time of the burglary and theft of the cable, I urge you to get in touch with the police as soon as possible.
“I am also keen to speak to any scrap metal dealers who may have been offered the cable and ask them to get in touch straight away.”
Anyone who can help officers progress this investigation should contact Malton police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Paul Fenwick. Alternatively, information can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting reference number 12130208432.
