York Police Host Christmas Security Road Shows

5:32pm 23rd December 2013

York police are urging members of the public to get their gadgets registered as they host post-Christmas security road shows.

On 27 December 2013, officers will host half-hourly security sessions across the city for members of the public to get their presents registered on the Immobilise national property register.

Registering your property means that it can be quickly reunited with it in the unfortunate event of it being stolen.

Property which is clearly marked is less attractive to a potential thief as it will be more difficult to sell on and is identifiable as being stolen.

Police Community Support Officer John Armstrong of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Many people will have received electronic gadgets and mobile devices for Christmas. While it’s fresh in your mind, please take the opportunity to come along and get your things registered as well as getting some valuable crime prevention advice.”

Road shows will be held in the following locations on Friday 27 December 2013:

  • York Railway Institute Sport Club, Hamilton Drive, Holgate 2.00 pm - 3.00 pm
  • St Clement’s Church, Scarcroft Road 3.10 pm - 4.00 pm
  • Tesco Askham Bar 4.15 pm - 5.00 pm
  • Copmanthorpe Shops, Main Street 5.15 pm - 5.50 pm
  • Foxwood Shops, Beagle Ridge Drive 6.00 pm - 6.30 pm
  • Beckfield Lane Co-op 6.45 pm - 7.15 pm
  • Poppleton Community Centre 7.30 pm - 8.00 pm
