Cost of Christmas

A new "How To" guide on budgeting christmas spending for people in York on low incomes has been released.
This comes after a review from the city's Citizen Advice Bureau revealed extra spending at christmas is causing people to fall below the poverty line.
The study showed how difficult it is for people to manage on a low income throughout the year, and with the pressure of spending at Christmas, people fall into debt. 72% of the group studied fell below the poverty line after covering essential living costs and priority debts.
Rebecca Jeffrey from York Citizens Advice Burreau's explains a few ways people can keep out of debt this festive period.
