Costs Of Planned York Community Stadium Continue To Rise
7:20am 15th December 2013
More than £81thousand has been spent in just six months on legal fees for York's planned Community Stadium.
A recent risk assessment on the proposed 6,000-seater venue flagged up 67 grey areas - among them, issues with rent.
It's doubtful, however, that the likes of York City FC and York City Knights RLFC - who are set to re-locate here - would have any problems paying.
York City Council insisted it was trying to keep costs to a minimum, and urged people not to forget about the benefits it's set to bring.
Darren Richardson, director of city and environmental services, said: "[There will be] new high-quality facilities for football, rugby and athletics; a range of much-needed community facilities; and new jobs within the complex.
"This project alone has brought £17million of private investment into York."
