Claims Plans for Five New Homes in Barlby Delayed in Footpath Row
3:58pm 12th December 2013
It's claimed plans for five new houses in Barlby have had to be put on hold, because council workers can't agree how wide a footpath is.
Minster FM has been told a Highways Officer from North Yorkshire County Council has been to the site on Howden Road and measured the path but Selby Council planners are said to have told a Planning Committee meeting yesterday they could not agree on the width of the footpath. The application was then deferred for what's described as "a proper investigation into the site access".
The applicant of the plans to built five homes at the back Lynwood on Howden Road said it was "ridiculous" and a member of the district council's planning committee said "it could only happen in Selby".
However, North Yorkshire County Council has said it believes the delay is not down to the footpath but instead down to the visibility of what can be seen by traffic if the homes are built.
We have yet to hear back from Selby District Council for an official response.
