Plans To Boost York's Early Evening Economy Could Include Some Free Parking
7:31am 10th December 2013
York could get free car parking after 5.00pm on late night shopping evenings.
That's one of the options being considered by the council for it's car parks, to boost York's early evening economy.
The council is looking at ways to increase trade in the city between 5.00pm and 8.00pm - the time before people come into the city for a night out.
Another area that could be looked at, is improving late night public transport in the city. The council will now review the issue and consider the findings from it's online survey "Yorkafter5".
We spoke to Frank Wood from the York Retail Forum, who gave us his views.
