Owners Found of Dog Killed on A64 Near York

3:14pm 6th December 2013
(Updated 5:18pm 6th December 2013)

The owners of a dog which was killed on the A64 near York this afternoon have been found.

The dog, a large Jack Russell which is white and tan in colour, and wearing a purple leaded colour and dark lead is believed to have got away from it's owner at 12.55 this afternoon. Officers believe it was around six to eight years old.

It was sadly then run over on the A64 westbound on the bridge which crosses the River Ouse near Naburn and Bishopthorpe.

Minster FM was helping in the search as the dog would have been cremated by the vets tomorrow if the owners hadn't been identified.
