Police Appeal for Witnesses After Crash Near Helmsley

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men and three young boys were injured in a crash on the B1257 at Sproxton near Helmsley at 6.30pm last night involving a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a black Mitsubishi L200 Mitsubishi pick-up.
The man driving the van, who's in his 40s and from the County Durham area, was taken to hospital with serious neck and chest injuries. Police say he is still in a serious condition.
The pick-up driver, a man in his 30s and from the Helmsley area, was also taken to hospital with serious leg, chest and neck injuries. Police say he is still in a serious condition. Three young boys in the pick-up suffered chest injuries, two have since been released but one is still in hospital with a broken arm.
Fire crews from Huntington and Easingwold gave first aid until paramedics arrived.
Police want witnesses to the collision and to anyone who saw either of the vehicles travelling along the B1257 before the crash, to contact them.
