Elderly Woman Left With Serious Head Injuries After Easingwold Collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after an 81-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car in Easingwold.
At around 1pm on Thursday 5 December 2013, the woman was crossing Chapel Street in Easingwold near to Barclays Bank when the driver of a black Kia Cee’d performed a reversing manoeuvre and collided with the woman.
She was knocked to the ground and suffered a serious head injury. She was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where she remains in a critical condition.
It was initially believe that the woman had sustained minor injuries, however, on arrival at hospital, her injuries were confirmed as serious.
The driver of the Kia, a man in his seventies was uninjured but shaken up by the incident.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in Chapel Street at around 1pm and saw the black Kia or the woman pedestrian either before the incident or who witnessed the incident itself, to contact them.
