Full Refunds Offered as York Pantomime Cancelled
4:00pm 5th December 2013
The promoter of this years pantomime at York Barbican has announced that the show is being cancelled .
The decision has been taken by Blue Genie who promoted the successful Cinderella with Dani Harmer at the Barbican last year. However, the response to Dick Whittington which was to run from 20th Dec – 30th Dec has been less enthusiastic .
A spokesperson for the Barbican said “We are obviously disappointed at the decision, but feel it is better to let everyone know as early as possible so that they can make alternative plans. There are tickets available for the pantomime at the Theatre Royal and we hope families will still be able to enjoy this traditional festive entertainment. “
Since reopening in 2011 following a £2 million refurbishment, the Barbican has played host to over 200 shows and re-established itself as an important piece of the entertainment and cultural landscape in the city. Early bookings for 2014 indicate that the venue will have its most successful year yet.
Ticketholders for Dick Whittington are advised to go to their point of purchase for a full refund, including any booking fees.
