Witness Appeal After £100,000 Selby Metal Theft

11:43am 22nd November 2013

Police are investigating after £100,000 worth of fabricated steel was stolen from an industrial unit near Selby.

Thieves entered the yard on Sherburn in Elmet Industrial Estate sometime overnight between Tuesday 19 November and Wednesday 20 November 2013, and took the steel along with a large trailer which it was stored in.

They must have used a HGV tractor unit to move the trailer, which didn’t have any registration plates attached.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area around the time of the incident to come forward with information.

You are also urged to get in touch if you have recently been offered a large quantity of fabricated steel for sale.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for PC Nicola Gill or Selby police.

Alternatively, information can be emailed to nicola.gill@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

If you prefer not to give your name, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
