Crime prevention

Police would also like to remind homeowners to make sure that they keep their homes secure, keeping windows and doors locked. With the nights drawing in, open windows and doors give opportunist burglars an easy target.

If your property doesn't already have security lighting, consider installing it. This will act as a deterrent and disturb potential burglars.

Make sure fences around your garden are in good repair and that any gates are locked. This is especially important at this time of year.

Keep an eye on neighbouring properties as well as your own and if you see anything suspicious contact the police as soon as possible.
