Easingwold Police Give Away Free Bike Lights
6:00am 3rd November 2013
Easingwold police are organising a litter picking day to help tidy up the local area.
Officers are encouraging young people and their parents to get involved in the event which is taking place today (Sunday 3 November 2013), around Galtres Drive and Station Court.
Local police officers will also be promoting road safety on the day and anyone who comes along to help out will receive a free set of bike lights.
Broadacres Housing will be supplying hi visibility tabards, gloves picking sticks and black bags and their staff will be assisting on the day.
PCSO Michael Crosthwaite, of Easingwold Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “With the darker nights pulling in it has been noticed that many children are riding their bikes without adequate lighting, so I wanted to promote road safety and link this with the litter pick day.
“Broadacres have very kindly agreed to fund for 30 sets of bicycle lights. Our intention is reward those taking part in the litter picking by providing them with a set of bicycle lights.”
Local cycle shop ME Willis has kindly supplied the lights and will assist with free fitting on a specified day in the near future
