2:16pm 29th October 2013
Police in Selby are urging victims of cycle theft to come forward, after the recovery of over 70 bikes in the town.
The bikes were recovered as the result of police enquiries, from a property on Johnson Street, just after 10am on Wednesday 23 October 2013.
A man aged 51 and a 46-year-old woman, both from Selby, were arrested on suspicion of the theft of a pedal cycle, at the address when the bicycles were found. A 15-year-old boy, also from Selby, was arrested later the same day, on suspicion of the theft of a pedal cycle. All three have been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.
The cycles range from children’s bikes with stabilisers to adult mountain bikes, shopper bikes, racing cycles, BMXs and Tag-alongs.
PC David White, of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: ”If you have been the victim of a bike theft in recent months, I urge you to get in touch with us straight away, so that we can reunite you with your property.
“Please ensure that you bring proof of ownership with you.
“I am also keen to speak to anyone who has information that could help with me with this enquiry and ask that they contact the police as soon as possible.”
Anyone who can help officers to progress this investigation should contact Selby police on 101, select option 2 and ask for David White. Alternatively, information can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
