North Yorkshire Families Going Abroad Over Half Term

1:02pm 25th October 2013

Leeds Bradford Airport says it is experiencing a surge in passenger numbers over the October half term. As the schools break up, an estimated 60,000 passengers are expected to depart over this period.

Leeds Bradford Airport says that many are looking to make the most of the school break to fly to warmer destinations. They add that top hot-spots include relaxing beach breaks to Lanzarote, Tenerife, Malaga and Faro.

Yorkshire holidaymakers are also connecting to long haul destinations, say Leeds Bradford Airport, through Amsterdam and London Heathrow. Many passengers they say are heading for city breaks in Amsterdam, Paris, Venice and London.

Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford Airport's Marketing Director said, “The October half term is always popular with holidaymakers jetting off to enjoy some sun as we head into winter. Thanks to the wide range of leisure and city break destinations available from Yorkshire’s Gateway Airport passengers will be able to take advantage of some fantastic offers available this autumn."

He added: “We also anticipate an increase in the number of inbound tourists visiting Yorkshire to sample the region’s famous hospitality and beautiful scenery.”
