Godfrey Bloom Launches His Autobiography
10:56am 17th October 2013
Godfrey Bloom, MEP, is launching his autobiography today (Oct 17)
The sometimes controversial politician says he has written the book in a whimsical style with some homespun and sometimes trenchant views.
"It will come as no surprise that it is not politically correct. What might be a surprise is it is full of common sense, a commodity so sadly lacking in most modern day politicians." he explains.
Godfrey Bloom, Independent MEP for Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, was born in 1949 and the book, described as a "poolside" read, covers a fascinating post war period from rationing to obesity.
Like most Brits of a certain age, he says, he does not think we are happier than we were and explains perhaps why. He says: "The Guardian did not offer to serialise the book notwithstanding that noble paper’s extraordinary help with my political career.
"It had been planned to launch the book last month at the UKIP conference in London but it was embargoed because of a slightly racy picture from his stag night. It will now be launched in Howden today. A new chapter has also been added since the conference, entitled, 'Bongos, Boobs and Sluts'."
Any profits will go to the Yorkshire Royal British Legion.
