Traveller Pitches At Burn Airfield Examined

Plans to create fifteen new traveller pitches on part of Burn airfield are being discussed later.
The district council says it'll help provide accommodation which is needed for travellers.
But Chris Phillipson from Burn Parish Council says the site is completely unsuitable;
Selby District Council say: “The planning committee report is due to be considered by Councillors on Wednesday 9th October, unfortunately it is inappropriate for the Council to comment in advance of the meeting".
They add that; "At the meeting on the 9th October Selby District Council’s Planning committee will be considering the application for change of use of part of Burn Airfield to facilitate a gypsy / traveller site.
"At this stage Selby District Council is waiting the results of a decision by the National Planning Casework Unit (NCPU) to “call in” the application.
"A copy of the planning committee report was sent to the NCPU on the day the agenda was released and the outcome of the planning committee will be sent to the NCPU to aid their decision. If the NCPU take up the option of reviewing the application then a final decision whether to grant or reject the application will be made by the NCPU and not by Selby District Council."
The full report is published as part of the planning committee agenda and can be downloaded from the Council’s website.
