Police Look for Witnesses as Woman Mugged in Selby

Police are asking for witnesses to a robbery in which a 59-year-old Selby woman was pushed to the ground in broad daylight.
At around 9.30am on Monday 7 October 2013, the victim was walking along Wren Lane in Selby when she was attacked outside Selby Podiatry Centre.
The suspect pushed the woman from behind and stole her purse which she was carrying in her hand. He then ran off in the direction of the town centre.
The woman did not suffer any physical injuries during the incident but she was very shaken up by what happened.
The suspect is described as wearing a dark blue hoodie with the hood up, blue jeans and white trainers.
Police are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and are examining CCTV footage.
As part the investigation to find out who did this, officers would like to hear from anyone who was in Selby on Monday morning and either witnessed the attack or saw a man matching the suspect’s description running towards town from Church Lane. They are also asking anyone who finds a discarded brown purse to contact them.
Temporary Detective Inspector Alan Rowan of York and Selby CID, said: “This was a cowardly attack on a woman going about her daily business in broad daylight. Fortunately such incidents are very rare in Selby. Thankfully the victim was not injured but very shaken up by what happened.
“It’s vital that anyone with information about the robbery gets in touch to help us bring whoever did this to justice.”
