Mobile Phone Coverage In North York Moors Examined
8:32am 8th October 2013
Mobile phone coverage will be discussed at a new Community Forum organised by Parish Councils and the North York Moors National Park Authority.
The Forum aims to lead a discussion among people about how the North York Moors can become a better and easier place to live. It is hoped the meeting will be the forerunner of a Community Forum event on topical subjects every year.
The first Forum will be held today (Tuesday, 8 October 2013) at Lady Lumley’s School, Pickering starting at 5.30.
There will be an update on the Mobile Infrastructure Project in the North York Moors by Chris France, the Authority’s Director of Planning, and Will Osborne from Harlequin Group, the company contracted to do planning, survey and design for the Project. This will include information on proposals for dealing with key ‘not spots’ or areas with no mobile reception.
The Forum will also involve local users sharing their experiences of Facebook and Twitter. Peter Mawson, a farmer from High Farndale; Carolyn Frank, of Libby Butler Jewellers and The Moors Inn, Appleton le Moors; Nicola Chalton and Pascal Thivillon of Esk Valley News; and Catriona McLees and Nicola Richardson of the North York Moors National Park Authority will look at how community groups can use social media to increase their profile.
Representatives from Parish Councils and the National Park Authority will also be there to talk about North York Moors issues and how to get involved in these organisations.
Attendance is free, but please book your place with Judith Seaton at the North York Moors National Park Authority, The Old Vicarage, Bondgate, Helmsley, York, YO62 5BP.
