M&S and John Lewis Sign Up For Selby Jobs Fair
8:33am 24th September 2013
A jobs fair in Selby is set to be the biggest yet, as Marks and Spencer and John Lewis sign up for the event.
The third Selby District Jobs Fair, organised by Nigel Adams MP , will be held at Selby College on Thursday 3 October with doors open 10am to 4pm.
Nigel Adams says "At the Jobs Fair, job seekers can meet with local employers in a relaxed environment to discuss current vacancies and future opportunities. This year some very big names from the world of retailing and construction are attending which is a sign of a recovering economy.
"At this year's event there are over 400 immediate vacancies to be filled with companies saying they will have over 2000 new jobs coming up over the next two years.
"It is the third Jobs Fair I've done and it promises to be the best yet. Last year's event was attended by over 1000 jobseekers with over 40 companies and I'm thrilled that we have some big names looking for staff including John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, York Hospital and Caddick and Shepherd Construction”
"Thankfully, unemployment in my constituency is down by over a quarter since the last election with the Jobs Fairs having played a major part, but I am not complacent. My Jobs Fairs are all about matching local people to local jobs. A side benefit is that the Jobs fairs also encourage new investment in the area."
Throughout the day there will be special workshops for Job seekers on how to make a great first impression at interview and advice on CV writing. Local bus firm, Arriva is supporting the event by running a special £1 each way fare from Selby bus station out to the college.
There will be free wi-fi in the hall and you can even follow the jobs fair and vacancies on twitter at @SelbyJF13
