Blood + Chocolate is an epic scale promenade production taking place in the City of York, which will explore the inspiring stories of the workers and owners of York’s chocolate factories during the First World War alongside those of the young men involved in the terrible conflict. The citywide theatrical adventure will feature a cast of 180, made up of professional and community actors from the city and beyond.
Speakers at the launch will include:
· Alan Lane – Director and Artistic Director of Slung Low
· Liam Evans-Ford - Producer
· Sophie Jewett – Director of York Cocoa House
Attendees will also have the opportunity to watch some of the rehearsals, and experience Slung Low’s headphone technology which audiences will wear.
Finally there will also be a chance to learn about the chocolate background to the story with Sophie and the team at York Cocoa House as they share the history of the cocoa and chocolate industry that made York the Chocolate City. You'll have a chance to sample some unique chocolate products and learn how they were made, with maybe a chance for you to make some of your own.
Throughout the evening there will opportunities for press interviews and photos with the creative team of the epic yet intimate production.
Blood + Chocolate runs in York from the 3-20 October
