Rillington Burglary - Police Appeal For Information

Ryedale police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Rillington.

Thieves got into a bungalow on Malton Road through an insecure rear door, sometime overnight between Monday 2 September and Tuesday 3 September 2013, while the occupants were asleep, say police.

They add that they stole an number of items, including an iPad, a Nokia mobile phone and some cash.

Officers have been making enquiries into the incident and are urging the public to come forward with information.

Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for PC Paul Fenwick or Malton police.

Crime prevention

Officers are urging residents to ensure that they have the necessary security arrangements in place to protect their homes from thieves.

North Yorkshire Police have the following advice:

* Ensure all doors and windows are locked even when at home

* Install security lighting which can act as a strong deterrent to thieves

* Make sure you set your burglar alarm if you have one

* Keep an eye on neighbouring properties and report anything suspicious to the police

Sherburn criminal damage

Officers are also investigating after a garage door was damaged on Church View in Sherburn, Malton.

Police believe that a group of youths repeatedly kicked the door and concrete surround at a 6.30pm on Wednesday 28 August 2013.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information about this incident to come forward.

Police investigate Malton mower theft

 

 

Malton police are appealing for witnesses and information about a theft in Gillamoor.

 

 

It happened, they say, between 9am on Sunday 1 September and 10am on Monday 2 September 2013, when a ride-on mower was stolen from a field near the village.

 

 

The yellow Stiga Titan mower is valued at £8,500, say Malton Police.

 

 

PC Katie Shaw of Malton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you saw any suspicious activity in the Gillamoor area around the time of the theft, I ask you to contact the police straight away.

 

 

“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw any unusual vehicles as I believe that the thieves will have used a van or trailer to remove the mower.“
