Mystery Surrounds Suspected York Attack
4:39pm 2nd September 2013
Detectives in York are investigating after a man suffered numerous injuries on his way home from a night out.
The man, aged 49, had been in Popworld on George Hudson Street with a group of friends on the evening of Friday 30 August 2013.
He left the bar at around 11pm and made his way home to the Holgate area of the city. When he woke up the next morning, he had a laceration to his head – which required 15 stitches - three broken ribs, a broken arm and bruising.
All his injuries are consistent with an assault and it is suspected that he was attacked at some point on his way home.
Officers are appealing to anyone who saw the man or can help establish what happened to him on his route home, to get in touch.
He is described as white, with a stocky build and short greying hair. He was wearing a red checked shirt, blue jeans and brown boots.
Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Detective Constable Mike Avison or York CID.
