Bin Shake Up For Pocklington, Market Weighton and Stamford Bridge

1:01pm 27th August 2013

A bin shake up in Pocklington, Stamford Bridge and Market Weighton starts today.

Blue bins will now be emptied fortnightly and green bins will move from weekly to fortnightly collections.

Mike Featherby's from East Riding of Yorkshire Council says; "Green bins, which were being emptied, were not being filled, so i'ts a reaction to public demand".

With the roll out of the new fortnightly collection service the council is introducing a new single text message service which will send text message reminders the night before blue, green and brown bin collections. The only cost for this service is the initial text message say the council.

Information on how to subscribe to the new service will be included in an information pack. You will also be able to find how to subscribe by viewing the online bin collection calendar once you have moved onto fortnightly collections.

You will need to cancel any existing reminders by texting STOP to 07786 200401 for blue bin reminders, and STOP to 07786 200416 for brown bin reminders.
