6:53am 5th August 2013

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 60s died following a road traffic collision at Barlby near Selby.

The collision occurred just before 12.30pm on Sunday 4 August 2013 at the junction of the A19 and the A163 from North Duffield.

It involved a grey Peugeot 208 travelling onto the A19 from the A163, and a silver Vauxhall Zafira travelling along the A19 towards Selby.

A passenger in the Peugeot, a man in his sixties, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where he sadly died on Sunday afternoon. The driver of the Peugeot was uninjured but was taken to hospital for checks.

The driver of the Zafira was uninjured but his three passengers were taken to York District Hospital with minor injuries and were discharged later on Sunday afternoon.

All drivers and passengers from both vehicles are from the Selby area.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw either of the vehicles prior to the crash or witnessed the actual collision, to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Traffic Constable Martin Brown, or you can email martin.brown@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

The road was closed to allow the casualties to be treated and transported to hospital, for collision investigators to carry out a full examination of the scene and to allow the vehicles to be recovered. It reopened at around 5.15pm
