2:36pm 6th January 2010
A quarter of released offenders, housed at Southview probation hostel on the Boroughbridge Road in York, have broken their probation or committed another crime in the last twelve months.
The shocking stats have been revealed by the Justice Minister, Maria Eagle.
She says the site has a HIGH return rate to prison, with 27 out of the 110 residents being sent back in 2009.
York MP Hugh Bayley says "These figures should reassure residents former offenders are closely monitored".
The hostel houses a number of convicted sex offenders.
