(Updated 8:44am 5th July 2013)
Copmanthorpe Carnival is set to be bigger and better this year with a huge line up of local talent taking to the stage this Saturday (6th July 2013)
Organisers say they are really excited to announce a huge line up of events and some amazing live music from their showground in York on Saturday 6th July 2013.
To recognise York's important Viking history they have announced that at this year's event they will be joined by JORVIK and the Jormungandr Vikings York re-enactment society. The Carnival's REAL Viking village will be a great attraction for all ages allowing people to step back in time and learn about how the Vikings lived.
Plus they have 7 of the most fantastic up and coming local bands in Yorkshire on their festival stage alongside dancers and performance groups of all shapes and sizes.
The Carnival is all in aid of the local charity to help raise funds for the community sports and recreation centre. Year on year the success of this event is making big differences to the communities facilities, say organisers. They add that the event is always well supported by the local people in York and further a field and is growing year on year. The gates open on Saturday 6th of July for a full day of family entertainments and live music & entertainment from our BIG festival stage!
