A group of riders are taking on a cycle challenge from Edinburgh to London this week and are riding through York Stillingfleet and Selby today as part a bid to raise funds for the national charity Missing People.
Peter Lawrence whose daughter Claudia went missing in 2009 was at the Park Inn on North Street to see the riders off as they set off from York this morning.
Lucy Holmes is one of the cyclists and also works for Missing people said: "We are cycling 500 miles over the course of 5 days. This epic journey from Edinburgh to London is going to be tough, but we have all decided to take part to raise money for Missing People. The only charity that provide a lifeline when someone disappears.
"We are doing this for the 250,000 people that go missing every year in the UK alone, as well as all the families suffering the heartache of searching for a missing loved one".
The group aim to raise almost fifteen thousand pounds and have so far raised over ten thousand pounds. If you want to find out more about the challenge or donate you can visit their just giving page.
